It’s been a while since I collaborated and produced a song with singer/songwriters. The past 4 years have been very focused on instrumentals. But back in 2020, I wrote a track that screamed for vocals. So I reached out to my good friends RBBTS (Hendrik Burkhard & Anne Kalstrup) and asked them if the instrumental inspired them to write a song on top. Luckily for me, the answer was prompt; YES!
The music was written during the pandemic lockdowns with the intent to express a lot of hope and positivity during the hard times. Naturally, I asked RBBTS to reflect those feelings with words and harmonies and the result was even better than I had hoped for. RBBTS are extremely good at writing beautiful, haunting hooks, and “Before We Fade” is a great example of their talent. Today the song resonates with so much more than just isolation.
The idea behind the song is to let the vocals take center stage accompanied by my chords and soundscapes before the tension is released in form of hard-hitting beats and an uplifting, constant moving melody. A contrast of the mind is expressed in the music. Anne, Hendrik, and I feel we created something special with this song and we hope it resonates with the listeners and makes them feel the same way.

3.0 is a deep dive into Noir’s instrumental universe.
Melancholic spheres, noises, and glitches lurk underneath hypnotic beats, grooves, and melodies. The constantly evolving soundscapes and Noir’s attention to detail make this an album you can dive into and discover new things each time you listen.

“Frakmend” is another timeless piece by _r00t_
Atmospheric dub techno based on granular experimentation.
The sporadic delays and pitched layers create a hypnotic- almost mediative- feel on top of the fast-paced beats.
“Impel” almost sounds like 2 tracks blend together.
I experimented with granular synthesis which resulted in the disruptive middle piece of this track.
I love surprise elements in music and feel I accomplished something that stands out with “Impel”.

Classic fast-paced techno by _r00t_ that takes you back to the early days of the Detroit scene.
Although this tune is high-energy there is also something soothing and almost chilled underneath the relentless beats.
It works both for the dance floors and for a hypnotic listening experience.
Spektral is one of the most straightforward techno tracks I have produced in the past 2 to 3 years.
”It’s designed to sound raw, in your face, and straight to the point.
Under the hood, of course, a lot is going on like in almost all of my productions.
All elements are highly modulated and ever-changing to give you that hypnotic movement to sink into.
On this particular track, spectral resonators played a big part in the sound design.
Everything is wrapped in 909 beats and arranged to suit the dance floors.”

Finishing off 2021 with another EP
This release includes tracks written between summer 2020 and fall 2021. Apart from having the
“Noir signature” they are very different pieces of music yet they seem to fit perfectly together.
The 5 tracks represent completely different timelines and emotions from me.
Noise experimentation was a big part of the production process on these tracks. From simple white
noise and rain to static and vinyl crackle. From pleasant analog tape saturation to random digital
glitches.
The meaning of the word Stratum is; a layer of material, naturally or artificially formed. A number of
parallel layers one upon another. The perfect description for this release.

We welcome Anna V. to the Noir Music Family
Once in a while, you hear music that just hits you in all the right places and feels like the perfect fit for
your ears and your mind. This 4-tracker by Anna V. was one of those for me. 4 great individual pieces
that together paint the perfect picture.
I have known Anna V. for years and can assure you she is an artist with great depth, talent, and
passion. It shines through from her personality and into her music. To me, that is especially
noticeable on this Noir Music release entitled “Aether”.
I hear all her emotions flowing through the soundscapes and although we are dealing with deep, dark
techno pieces they all have a distinct sense of hope and light deeply integrated. For me, it was love at
first listen and I am proud to release these tracks and welcome Anna V. to the Noir Music family.

The 4 tracks chosen for this release stand out as a therapeutic experience for me. They are all wrapped in pounding beats but there is something calm almost mediative underneath the surface. Creating these 4 tracks put me in a better state of mind and helped me move forward.”

Once in a while I hear music from a new talent which I feel is consistently great and at a high production-level. Allan Feytor is one of those producers.
Allan has been super creative in 2020 and together we handpicked 4 tracks which complimented each other and felt sounded for Noir Music.
Allan then perfected every little detail until we both felt all tracks were at their best.
The result is this fantastic debut on Noir Music entitled “Orbit”.
